Internet businesses where people make a fortune
Internet businesses where people make a fortune
Before we start, we propose a small questionnaire to see if you have "swallowed" the most common lies about doing business on the Internet. The idea is to learn while also debunking the most ingrained lies held by an incredible number of Internet users. Answer YES or NO to the following questions, and take note of your answers. Cheating is prohibited.
- Can you make easy money on the Internet?
- Is it cheap to create and maintain a website?
- Is it necessary to be a programmer and know HTML to succeed on the Internet?
- Has SPAM made the sellers of adult pharmaceuticals rich?
If you answered YES to most of these questions, bad news... You are part of the crowd, but if you answered NO to 3 of them, you should still inform yourself about the details. Can you make easy money on the Internet? Definitely NO, at least not legally. ALL entrepreneurs who have started a web project have invested months and even YEARS in making their dreams a reality. For example, Matt Mullenweg, the creator of WordPress software and the world's most popular free blogging platform (WordPress.com), had to work hard for several months before publicly presenting the first version of his software in May 2003. He then capitalized on market needs related to his Internet business idea, creating new versions of his free product until he got Internet users to download MILLIONS of copies of his software or create hundreds of thousands of blogs on WordPress.com. It took him almost ten years to make his idea worth around 50 million dollars... and it keeps growing every day. There is no such thing as making quick money on the Internet. The key lies in the sales technique, which in this case consists of "selling" something free in exchange for popularity, which then turns into money. Is it cheap to create and maintain a website? Well, it depends on what kind of website. In general, the answer is YES, because for eight dollars a month, or less, it is possible to start a web project. As it grows in size and users, it makes sense to pay more for maintaining a hosting service suitable for the volume of visits. Something similar was done by Mark Zuckerberg, famous for being one of the creators of the social network Facebook. He started by creating a website for Harvard University alumni, based on photo albums containing images of graduates from schools and universities in the United States. Shortly after, the network began to grow explosively because the idea was really good… up to today, when he has 17 billion dollars thanks to his persistence and effort. Is it necessary to be a programmer and know HTML to succeed on the Internet? The answer is NO. There are plenty of entrepreneurs who are completely unaware of programming languages. They simply focus on their business plan and seek help from professionals for programming tasks. Entrepreneurs often start with Internet business ideas to make money from home, without having the slightest idea of HTML. Has SPAM made the sellers of adult pharmaceuticals rich? Absolutely NO. In reality, this is NOT a strategy, but a "lottery," an easy way to reach thousands of people, hoping that someone will be interested in the product, but the sites targeted by this advertising have a TERRIBLE reputation.
