Best times to post on social media and send emails
A few days ago, I came across a very interesting little graphic that I would like to briefly discuss today, as it shows the best times to post on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest, as well as which days we should choose to do so. Additionally, we find a small list of the best times to send email campaigns, which can be very beneficial for your efforts on these channels.
The Best Time to Post on Facebook
Tuesday to Sunday are the indicated days; that's right, that hectic Monday we all experience is not the right day to post promos, entries, or new videos. Wait until Tuesday, the rush will have passed, and people gather on this busy social network from 1-4 pm with the highest traffic—those are the posting hours.
The Best Time to Post on Twitter
Monday to Thursday are the days for this network because it is more dynamic than Facebook and quicker to check, but the hours change a bit, as the most crowded times to send tweets are from 12-3 pm.
The Best Time to Post on LinkedIn
Tuesday to Thursday, LinkedIn is king in professional circles, being visited from 5-6 pm. Curiously, this is a network that moves in the evening… perhaps because at that time we are considering a new job after a heavy workday.
The Best Time on Pinterest
The network par excellence for relaxing after a long day, which is why posting on Pinterest should be done from 8-11 pm, and especially the busiest days on it are interesting as they are the “weekend,” Saturday and Sunday.
When to Send Email Campaigns?
We can see that the best hours to send emails are also indicated, along with an anatomy of why, for example:
- The best hours for email are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., as this way you can do it when people are already at their workplaces, but also because we won’t send it too late for them to schedule reading our email for the next day because “we catch them” as they leave the office.
- The best days to send emails are from Monday to Thursday, as this generates an 80% conversion rate, and if we look at it closely, Friday is certainly not a favorable day to send emails, as they can get lost in the “I’ll see it on Monday,” and likewise, the urgency of Monday can favor us so that they do open it that same day.
- Be brief, no more than 100 words; in fact, it is recommended to keep it between 80 to 90, which should get to the point of what you want to share and can be read in just a few seconds because, let’s face it, today few of us can afford to waste time. In fact, you just read 64 words in this paragraph; that’s how quick and concise you should aim to be.
- Anticipate special dates and events at least 30 days in advance. That’s right, that’s why Christmas starts in October or November in department stores, and that’s why we receive email marketing about Valentine’s Day in January, because it’s necessary to get ahead of these dates to offer discounts, promotions, subscriptions, and other marketing strategies, and the best time to do this is a month in advance.
- Don’t share the link to the page, site, or networks in the first email you send; this reads as a somewhat complex and dubious strategy, but be careful, according to Hubspot, this increases conversion by 63%, so it’s worth trying because it looks quite promising.
This information was taken from the infographic “How to Create Better Content Than Your Competitors” by Erik Devaney that can be read on the marketing blog of the Hubspot website.
